Ethnic groups in the Arab league

The different ethnic groups found in various members states of the Arab League include, but are not limited to: Arabs, Armenians, Afars, Amharas, Assyrians, Bejas, Berbers, Chaldeans, Cherkes, Chinese, Europeans, Greeks, Gypsies, Indians, Somalis, Jews, Kurds, Malays, Nubians, Persians, Swahilis, Tigrinyas, Tuaregs, Turks and Urdus.

Ethnic groups in Saudi Arabia

Almost 90% of the people in Saudi Arabia are Arabs by ethnicity while the rest of the ethnic groups include Africans, Indonesians, Iranians, Indians and Turks.

Ethnic groups in the United Arab Emirates

The largest ethnic group in the United Arab Emirates is comprised of South Asian immigrants, including Bangladeshis, Indians, Pakistanis and Sri Lankans. They account for fifty percent of the total UAE population. The single biggest native group is the Emiratis, who are the only group made up of UAE citizens. This Emiratis make up only 20% of the population. The other ethnicities found in the UAE are Iranians, Baluchis, Americans and Europeans.


Ethnic groups in Qatar

The biggest ethnic group in Qatar is the Qatari Arabs, who account for 40% of the total population in Qatar. The Qataris are the descendants of the different Omani tribes and other of populations in areas neighboring Qatar. The other ethnic groups found in Qatar include but are not limited to: Egyptians, Jordanians, Iranians, Indians, Pakistanis and Palestinians.

Ethnic groups in Kuwait

The local Kuwaiti ethnic group represents only 40% of the nation’s total population. The rest of the population is made up mostly of immigrants from various surrounding countries, especially those in Asia. These immigrants’ ethnicities include: Bangladeshi, Filipino, Indian, Iranian and Sri Lankan. Some minorities include the Americans and Europeans.

Ethnic groups in Bahrain

The local ethnic group, known as the Bahrainis, is in the majority accounting for over 60% of the population. This group is composed of communities such as the Afro-Arabs (African descendants), Ajams (Persian descendants), Baharnas (Arabs who following the Shia form of Islam), Bahraini Jews, Banyans (Indian descendants), Howalas (Sunni Arabs), and various regional tribal descendants.

Non-Bahrainis ethnicities include the Indians, Filipinos and Sri Lankans.

Ethnic groups in Egypt

In Egypt, the Egyptian ethnic group can be considered as the only large ethnic group with other minority ethnic groups including Arabs, Berbers, Bedouins, Bejas, Doms and Nubians. Ninety five percent of the total population is comprised of Egyptians and they can be broadly divided into two communities: Muslims and Christians. Egyptian Muslims are in the majority (90% of all Egyptians).

Nubians are basically Sudanese descendants. The Bedouins have settled on the Sinai Peninsula and Berbers in the Siwa Oasis region of Egypt.
