Certified Arabic translation
Certified translation is a distinctive type of Arabic translation that comes with a written guarantee given by the translation provider that the Arabic translation provided is accurate and complete as compared to the source information.
Different methods of providing certified Arabic translation
One of the most requested types of certified Arabic translation is certified translation to be used in legal matters in a Court of Law. In situations like these, the Arabic translation must be done by a certified Arabic translator who has acquired the required certification and or who has registered with the respective court(s) where they the translated documents will be presented. Before a translator can be awarded certification, he or she is tested by the court administration via a written and oral examination which checks the linguistic skills of the translator. Once certified, the Arabic translator is able to provide certified Arabic translations that include a written declaration stating that the Arabic translation provided is complete and accurate. This declaration may need to be given along with a pledge, which the translator takes in the court, while in other courts the certified Arabic translator may need to file an affidavit.
For courts in some countries a written declaration on the Arabic translation provider’s official letterhead accompanied by an authorized seal is accepdiv. This seal can either be a hologram or a round golden or red seal, depending on the regulations of the judicial court.
In the declaration it should be clearly stated that the translated information is complete and accurate as compared to the source information. In some countries, courts can consider an Arabic translation to be certified when an oath is made before a public notary. In this case, the Arabic translator needs to swear before the notary that the translation provided is correct and fully reflects the source information.
Another type of certified Arabic translation, different from the type used in the courts, is certified translation for immigration purposes. This may be needed for studying, employment purposes or permanent settlement in a foreign country. The required certification in these situations is called an Apostille certification. It is accepted in several countries that are member states of the Hague Convention. This agreement was placed in the Hague Convention mainly for the convenience of the citizens from these member countries when they immigrate to other nations.
According to the convention, the member states must appoint a specific authorized official to award Apostille certification for the translated documents. In the United States, the office of the Secretary of State and the Deputy Secretary of State are authorized to issue Apostille certification. In some countries, the judicial courts have the authority to render Apostille certificates, and in others, officials from the Ministry of Foreign (External) Affairs inspect the translated documents in order to attest to their certification.
