Arabic Culture
Some history scholars claim that Arabic culture has existed since sometime around the second century. Early Arabic culture was more inclined to either Christianity or Judaism, since before the rise of Islam on the Arabian Peninsula the people found in the region were either Arab Christians or Arab Jews.
Arabic literature
The first instances of Arabic literature date to the sixth century, according to the findings of some archaeologists in the Arabian region. It has been noted that the major developments in Arabic literature were only seen after the rise of Islam in the region, since in the earlier period the only literature found has been poetic verses from Pre-Islamic times. The chief manifestation of Arabic literature following the Islamification of the Arabian world was the holy book of the “Quran”. The writing of the “Quran” was a quite significant step in the history of Arabic literature for several reasons.
For example, there was an evolution of the Arabic language into a new language, which was the called the “Classical Arabic” dialect. It was the first masterpiece of literature that was of a considerable length. It has over a hundred chapters and more than six thousand verses. It is said to have several narrations and messages from God and to contain a very extreme clarity on the subject.
Nearly all of the works in Arabic literature were related to “Muhammad the Prophet.” The first known biographies in Arabic literature are also about the Prophet. These were written by Wahb ibn Munabbih and Muhammad ibn Ishaq. Arabic grammar was defined and regulated by Abu al-Aswad Al-Du’ali and was further refined by Sibawah. The first Arabic dictionary was compiled by Khalil Ahmad.
Arabic music
Like literature, Arabic music is thought to have existed for thousands of years in the Arab world. The music that existed in ancient times is assumed to have used more musical instruments and to have consisted of a special style that was mainly used by magicians. One very important aspect of Arabic music that has influenced music all over the world is that instruments from early Arabic culture are believed to be the forerunners of several modern musical instruments. These different types of modern instruments include the alboka (horn pipe), bass drums, guitar, violin, lute, naker, flute, shawm and dulzaina.
In modern times, Arabic music has been influenced by western style music and today Arabic Rock, Arabic Pop and Arabic Jazz can be found to varying degrees in different parts of the Arabian Peninsula.
